About me

I’m a girl, a graphic designer/illustrator, a design Professor and I hold a PhD in design management. I live between the United Kingdom and Portugal.

I really ‘love’ fashion but I don’t consider myself a Fashionista.

You might wonder: why do I have a fashion blog?

I can answer this by saying that (for me): ‘Fashion is a work in progress’

My understanding of fashion is (as any arts rooted discipline)  based on ‘Communication’.

To put it in other words : ‘How we want to be perceived by others and how we want others to perceive us.’

These different aspects of one’s Identity have always fascinated me and I don’t pretend to be an expert on them.

Maybe I take fashion too seriously then?

I don’t think so, I think I’m quite honest and straightforward about fashion. It can be fun, it can be playful it can make you smile and it can empower you.

But only if you are open to it.. otherwise it can take control over who you are and then you can no longer strip the clothes and just be the person.

Arriving to some deep thoughts by now?? lol

Just chill and be yourself!!

And everybody who really matters will follow

  2. I completely agree with you. Clothes/ appearance do effect what others think. And there’s nothing wrong with wanting to put your best foot forward, the problem is when you feel the need to look a certain way in order to feel worthy of other peoples’ respect, love, and acceptance.

    Great “about me” section 🙂

    1. Yes that’s quite true The Daily Fashionista!I guess that with age and time/experience you start to realize that you don’t need so much to look a certain way to feel worthy and you start to accept yourself and others around you for who they are. Thanks for commenting! 🙂

      1. I have really enjoyed reading your blog and agree that we have similar styles in writing! 🙂 I also really agree with your take on fashion. I find myself much more tuned into people who don’t consider themselves “experts” but who are using fashion as a way to express or communicate! Thanks for sharing.

      2. Oh thank you for taking time leaving a word of encouragement! I appreciate it! Yes for me fashion is about experimenting with what makes you feel good and causes butterflies in your stomach! When I was younger I wore bright yellow summer dresses for parties and all my girlfriends will look away because I wasn’t wearing black like everyone else. I liked yellow..why shouldn’t I wear it right? 🙂 xoxo 🙂

  3. check my latest post! I gave you kind of a tag?! A lovely quiz 🙂 I would love to read your answers! Big hugs

  4. I agree, clothing can empower you. It is so important to be able to express your self to other people and I think fashion (what we wear – not what we are told to wear) is so reflective of our personalities. It should be a bit of fun, but most importantly it should be individual. Thanks for such a thought provoking about page!! x x
