Hello dear readers!
Autumn is coming ( if you watch Game of Thrones you are probably smiling now – if not, take a look at the memes on 9Gag – Look for “Winter if coming”).
The Autumnal Equinox or Fall Equinox, if you will, falls on the 23rd of September (my friend Rui’s bbday) on 02:29 UTC ( in case your planning an Equinox party :P).
Anyway, this means: NEW seasonal styles!! Yeah
Curious about all the trends? Check out Vogue’s article on 20 trends for Fall/Winter 2014 here by Jennifer Neyt, Eugénie Trochu and Margaux Krehl, translated by Charlotte Sutherland-Hawes.
I selected a few trends from that article that are following us through the seasons and some new ones that are appearing now for autumn. Enjoy!
Sixties Inspiration (On prints and style pieces)
Structured sixties short dresses with high boots but also light fabric wrap dresses with bold sixty prints are a personal favorite of mine for next season. I love dresses 🙂
Head to toe Knits
I love cosy knitted sweaters, scarves and coats and this new head to toe knitted trends looks very comfy. Keep it neutral though for a more balanced look.
A personal favorite of mine as really like argyle sweaters with either skirts or skinny jeans. They have that sixties elegant vibe I like so much, and of course, colors!
Oversize Coats +Duvet Coats + Capes + Ponchos + Shep skin Coats (Shearling).
Longer coats accentuate the female form and these are a bit on the loose side but still elegant and feminine. Secretly wanted the Céline coat to be in a different color (light blue, pale pink/nude or sapphire blue).
These coats below certainty look conformable and warm with all the padding and volume they create around the female silhouette. A cosy coccon for temperatures below
Ponchos are inspired by folk art and these are very elegant stylish and feminine. I felt in love with the style from Burberry modeled by Cara Delevingne (timeless classic).
Capes are every so elegant and bring that mystic of fairy tales with them. I immediately think of Red Riding Hood. When I was a child I had a cape with many colors and I remember feeling like a “lady” wearing it.
Even if you don’t wear products that originated from animals, it’s impressive to see this new take on Shearling ( a skin from a recently sheared sheep or lamb that has been tanned and dressed with the wool left on).
Do you have a favorite? Are you investing on a a new coat this winter? Which styles are your favorites?
